To make your wishes known

By pre-arranging your funeral you will make your wishes known to your family and friends and provide direction to the Executor of your estate. If pre-arrangement has not been made, then at a time of great stress and perhaps under circumstances that were totally unexpected, someone who may not be aware of your wishes must make all the decisions for this emotional event.

Time for decisions

Some of the important decisions you need to make relate to how much you are wiling to pay for your funeral, cemetery services and the monument you prefer. You have the time to decide how much of your estate you will allot to these important matters. You may choose to be cremated and you have the time to decide if you wish to be interred in the ground, in a niche or crypt. These choices are important elements of your pre-arranged plan.

Freedom from inflation

Your estate will benefit because your plan will be purchased at today’s prices, not at future inflated costs. You will have removed from family and friends any burden for making financial arrangements when a death occurs. You will have options to pay the full amount of your pre-arranged plan or consider a time payment plan that may suit the plan you envisage.

Protection for your plan payment

The Cemeteries Act, for consumer protection, provides strict regulations to control the sale, cancellation, or resale of a lot, niche, crypt and / or cemetery services. These regulations are specified in the Terms and Conditions written in every contract issued by the cemeteries and are required to be personally reviewed with every client to ensure their full understanding of their contract.

A portion (40%) of the money paid for the purchase of a lot, niche or crypt (named Interment Rights) are deposited to the Care and Maintenance Trust Fund. Lakeview Cemetery, under the strict regulations of the Cemeteries Act, must use the income provided by the Trust for cemetery care and maintenance services only.

The Cemeteries Act also dictates the regulations for the Pre-Need Assurance Trust Fund, into which is deposited 100% of the money you would pay for cemetery services needed at the time of death. The money deposited to this trust can only be recovered by Lakeview Cemetery after the services you have purchased have been performed.
