Burgess, Joshua Kane

It is with deep sadness that the family of Joshua Burgess announced his unexpected passing August 10th, 2026, at the age of 51. Josh was born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario to Janet Burgess (nee Schleihauf) and the late Robert (Bob) Burgess. Josh was a beloved and loving father, teamed with Michelle Burgess they raised Nick Burgess (Carley Yorke) and Hunter Burgess (McKenna Morrison). Josh leaves behind his only sister Kimberly. Josh was a fun loving “Uncy Shua” to Grace Baker, Daniel Baker and Molly Marcoux. Josh is survived by countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Josh initially found fulfillment working in the environmental field before he joined his many cousins as electricians and a proud member of the Local 530. He always enjoyed his career and especially the cameradery it provided, brightening the days of thousands of people while working at many refineries across Canada.

Josh loved being with friends, between backyard barbecues, annual camping trips, and union get-togethers he always brought life to the party. He was always thrilled to travel with his family while teaching his kids new things, in any trips there are ups and downs but Josh always made sure everyone had a good time. Josh found his personal pleasures in all types of music with his favourites being The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kings of Leon, Phish, and The Tragically Hip and watching almost any sport, no matter how boring, switching the channel back and forth watching bowling and darts, with his favourite teams being the Denver Broncos and Toronto Blue Jays.

Josh was very crafty with his hands, always finding an unconventional yet effective repair. Odd repairs are not the only thing Josh was proud of producing, his kids were a highlight in his life. Josh was always bragging to whoever would listen about their achievements, especially to the PSWs who assisted him in many ways. We would like to offer a special thank you to those from Bayshore that helped provide Josh with comfort in times of need.

We invite you on Friday, August 14th, between 2-6pm to come down to the Royal Canadian Legion: Branch 62 in Sarnia so we can share fun stories and celebrate the life of Joshua Burgess. As he would have wanted there will be music, food, drinks, and lots of laughs. In lieu of flowers, we ask memorial donations be made to the Bluewater Health Addictions Services.
