Dermentjian, Aram Shenork
1926 - 2025
Our father peacefully passed away at Watford Quality Care on April 16th, 2025. He proudly celebrated his 99th birthday in February.
Aram was a strong willed and determined man of Armenian heritage who survived many hardships during WW2 in Athens. As a Lieutenant in the Greek army, he fought as a Royalist with the British allied forces during the civil war in Greece.
Sponsored by the Postian family in London, Ontario he immigrated to Canada arriving October 28, 1953 at Pier 21 in Halifax harbour to start his new life.
Aram was a very proud Canadian and ALWAYS celebrated the day our great country accepted him with open arms. In 1958 he opened his carpet & drapery business in Sarnia, Ontario and became a strong advocate for downtown merchants.
A faithful soldier in Christ, dad always, "fought the good fight and kept the faith!"
He is survived by his wife of 58 years - Margaret (née Avakian), loving sons: Armen, Diran (Cynthia), Souren (Lisa), 3 beautiful grand-daughters: Lucy, Armenia, Sophie and his sister Alice in Greece. Predeceased by his brothers Pat & Berj and sister Aida.
A Celebration of Life will follow later this spring at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
We want to thank the kind staff at Vision Nursing home and Watford Quality Care plus Dr Buckton and Dr Ramirez for their compassionate care and support.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to St Andrew's Presbyterian Church and the Armenian Missionary Association of Canada (AMAC).
