GREENAWAY, Jefferson Wilbert Charles
September 21, 1961 – February 21, 2026
After a courageous battle with cancer, Jefferson “Jeff” Wilbert Charles Greenaway peacefully went to be with the Lord while in the arms of his daughters Larissa and Alisha, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the age of 64 years.
Jeff deeply cherished, and is deeply cherished by his children Samantha Hughes (Justin Carriere), Shane Hughes (Jennifer Grills), Larissa Greenaway, and Alisha Greenaway. Proud and loving Grandpa to Olivia Hughes, Addison Greenaway, and Taylor Greenaway.
A true Point Boy, Jeff was a devoted son ofthe late Kathleen “Kay” and Lawrence Greenaway who purchased their house in TheVillage in 1961, the year Jeff was born.
Jeff’s love for his siblings was a gift he carried proudly in this life and one we trust continues beyond it. Profoundly missed by Brenda (Bob) McKay, late Pamela (Guy) Kohlmeier, late Bradley (Cathy) Greenaway, late Donald Greenaway, Adrien (fiancé Mark Dixon) (late Allister) McCabe, Paul Greenaway, Brian (Deborah) Greenaway, and Michelle (Shawn) Morton.
Always the uncle who blended quiet presence with lively spirit – sharing stories, laughter, and the timeless sound of classic rock carried by his guitar strings or radio waves.
Jeff was easy to love and will be missed by many extended family members and special friends, all of which he held close to his heart.
An adventurous spirit guided Jeff through every season of life. From serving in the Canadian Armed Forces as a marksman, participating as a torchbearer in the Olympic Torch Relay for the 1988 Winter Olympics, aviation studies, and building a life on the open road as a truck driver, he pursued each chapter with courage.
His love for adventure continued to show itself in activities such as: skydiving, cycling, swimming at Canatara Beach, jumping in the St. Clair River, bungee jumping, attending airshows and concerts. In quieter times, Jeff could be found watching for eagles on the river, playing guitar, watching Blue Jays baseball, and he had a keen eye of appreciation for muscle cars, trains, ships, and his favourite Freightliner trucks.
Heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Kim and the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia, and the Oncology Department of Bluewater Health for their expertise and compassion.
Cremation has taken place – Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Jeff’s Life at the Ex-Serviceman’s Association, 503 Michigan Ave, Point Edward, ON, on Saturday, March 7, between 2:00pm– 5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia Lambton.
Jeff chose to see the end as a controlled landing. True to himself, he faced his final decent with courage and strength. Our love became the runway lights illuminating his path as he touched down.
“But they that wait upon the lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings as eagles;
They shall run and not be weary;
And they shall walk and not faint.”
– Isaiah 40:31
