Steven Andrew Heffer, affectionately known by many simply as “Stub,” passed away peacefully

at home, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma.

Steve will be forever missed by his devoted wife and life partner of 32 years, Christine Heffer,

and their two beautiful daughters, Cereena (Taylor) Hall and Mackenzie Heffer, who were the

light of his life. Beloved son of Doug and Judy Heffer, and loving brother to Angie (Kyle) Adam.

He was also dearly loved by his many uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephew. Steve’s easygoing

nature and quick wit will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to call him a

friend.

An avid outdoorsman, Steve felt most at home in nature—camping, hunting, and fishing

whenever he could. A natural bushman, he had an uncanny eye for wildlife—often seeing it well

before anyone else even knew where to look. Some of his most treasured memories were

made outdoors—camping in Northern Ontario with his wife and girls, sharing annual hunting

trips with his father, and fishing trips up north with his close friend Tony Allan—experiences that

meant the world to him.

Steve’s love of baseball led him to become an umpire, a role he proudly held for over 20 years

and looked forward to each season. The ball diamond was a place where he felt at home, and

he took great pride in being part of the game he loved. When he wasn’t behind the plate, Steve

could often be found spending time on the golf course or around the poker table with his

buddies.

Steve lived life on his terms—no regrets. He didn’t need much: just the people he loved, his

dogs, and a cold bottle of Blue. That was his world—and he wouldn’t have had it any other

way.

A celebration of Steve’s life will take place on May 9, 2026, at the Corunna Legion (350 Albert

St, Corunna, ON), from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. All who knew and loved Steve are welcome to

come together to share memories and celebrate a life well lived. Memorial donations may be

made to St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia Lambton.

Our family is extremely grateful to our extended family, friends, and both our employers and

coworkers for their support. Their kindness helped make the most difficult time in our lives a

little easier. We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the excellent care Steve

received from Dr. Orla MacSweeney, his nurse, Mary, and the team at Ontario Health at Home.

Steve, your love, strength, and laughter will remain with us always. You will forever be in our

hearts, our thoughts, and our lives.
