Edgar Hunt

July 5, 1959 – December 25, 2025

It is with profound sadness that the family of Edgar Hunt announces his passing at the age of 66, with his wife at his side, after a long and brave battle with cancer.

Beloved husband and best friend of Nancy. Loving father to Brian (Michelle) and Keith (Andrea); and a proud Pop to Carson, Claira, and Ella.

He was preceded by his parents Arthur and Deliah, his sister Barbara Butt and his brother Larry (Terrye). He is survived by his brother Harry (Chris), his sisters, Rhona Hynes (Stan) and Melinda Auchenlick (Shawn), sister-in-law Marg Lester (Allan), brother-in-law Paul Barnes (Cheryl), sister-in-law Denise Barnes (David), and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Edgar was born and raised in Newfoundland. He left home at the young age of 17 to work for the Hudson’s Bay Company in Northern Manitoba, where he met Nancy. After completing his CMA designation, Edgar built a respected accounting career in Sania, including roles with GLIS and the Sarnia Sting, before establishing his own accounting practice. He thoroughly enjoyed working with many local businesses and individuals, forming lasting friendships along the way.  

He was an avid golfer and always looked forward to his Thursday rounds with friends. He was often found reading a book on the deck whenever the sun was shining – even if it wasn’t very warm out. A die-hard Leafs fan, he enjoyed watching hockey, cycling, walking the dogs, and loved traveling with family and friends.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all the nurses, doctors, and staff who supported him in his battle.

Edgar will be missed greatly and fondly remembered. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. Special thanks to Lakeview Cemetery for its services.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada or St. Joseph's Hospice.
