With great sadness we announce the passing of Shirley “Joyce” Compton, age 86, February 6, 2023. Born January 15, 1937 in Buchans, NL. Preceded in death by beloved husband Peter James Hickey. Proud mother of Dawn-Marie (John) Zanutel and loving Nanny to Cameron and Vivian. Step-mother to Kathy (Dave) Melanson, Kimberley (Mitch) Dewolfe and Peter Hickey Jr. Joyce will be deeply missed by siblings Elizabeth Ann “Liz” (Al Keutch) Johnson, Luke (Cathy) Compton, Linda (Slade) Compton, David (Jessie) Compton, Raymond (Brett) Compton-Brown, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

After a long, successful career at Bell Canada and years of retirement travel Joyce moved back to her childhood home of Sarnia, ON where she will be inurned near her predeceased parents Hannah and Jake, and brother Raymond Blair Compton.

Joyce has made many new and a few very special friends at Bethel Manor, Lighthouse Community Church and of course Jackpot City Bingo since her return.

We would like to thank Dr. Yoshida Oncologist/Hematologist and his staff at Bluewater Health for the last 5 years of care.

We’d also like to thank Dr. Kim and all of the caring staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice, for the exceptional care during Joyce’s end-of-life journey.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in memory of Joyce Compton to https://www.stjosephshospice.ca/make-a-difference/donate A Celebration of Life service will be held at Lighthouse Community Church 152 Parker St, Sarnia, ON N7T 6G1 Wednesday February 8, 2023 4pm Family will be invited to Lakeview Cemetery for an inurnment ceremony at a later date.
