LAPORTE, Doris

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Laporte (nee Smyth) on June 22, 2026, at Bluewater Health.   She was the loving wife of the late Rene Laporte (1987) for 37 years.  Left to mourn is her beloved daughter Coreena Foster and son in law David.  Cherished aunt of Marie Smith and Pam Bronson of England.   Predeceased by her parents Joe and Hazel Smyth and sister Jean Harris, Gladys Rilett and brothers Alfred Smyth and Gerald Smyth (infant).   Doris was born in Chatham, Ontario, and raised in Bothwell.  In addition to being a loving wife and devoted mother, she cherished her faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and expressed a firm belief in the Bible’s promises of a resurrection.   Special thanks for the exceptional care she received from Marshall Gowland Manor where she spent the last four years and to Dr. Kim, the compassionate nurses and PSWs in Palliative Care.   Cremation has taken place.   A memorial service will take place at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at a later date.   Those wishing to honour Doris’ memory are invited to consider a donation to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Canada or Bluewater Health.   Online condolences may be made via email at mainoffice@lakeviewcemetery.ca
