Peacefully with her family and palliative family by her side, at Bluewater Health, Kathleen Witheridge has passed away on February 5, 2026. Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. She was all about family and always giving to those in need. She was Grandma to blood relatives and community. Kathy came to Canada from West Yorkshire, England in 1974. Her son Paul was only seven at the time. She worked as a legal secretary for many years, and enjoyed and excelled at genealogy and connected many families around the world. She was known for her faith and strength and fought for 61 years with type 1, insulin dependent Diabetes which she received a medal for from the Harvard Medical School Joslin Diabetes Center. She was very proud of this medal and that it wasn’t Diabetes that took her in the end.
She is survived by her step-daughters, Kelly (Bruce), Wendy, her many beautiful grandchildren: Jessica, Ian (Catherine), Alyssa, Erica, Natalie (Jeremy), Paige (Kael), Kyle, Jordan (Shaila) and great grandchildren: Patrick, Cali, Lucy, Ivy, Grace, Zeke, Remi, Piper, William and Violet. Many families in West Yorkshire, England. Including her sister Brenda (Keith), many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Her ‘adopted’ daughter Raziki and family. She also is survived but her family at The Village on the St. Clair, where she resided for three and a half years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul and son Paul, who were calling her with open arms. Cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest beside her eternal love in the spring with a private graveside service.
The family would like to thank Dr Kim and the palliative care nurses and PSWs for their compassionate care. A special thank you to PSW, Jaime for her special care, love and friendship. She loved you.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Inn of the Good Shepherd.
